My best man, Shawn, convinced Shelby and I to attend a Kappa Sigma party. This is after we met briefly at the beach the week before. At the party we started to become friends and started talking. Later, Shawn invited us to go see an embarrassingly terrible horror film called Tusk (pictured above). This is considered our first unofficial date. Later Kappa Sigma had a "Date Auction" where Ben, as a pledge, was auctioned to the public to go on a date with someone. Shelby's best friend and bridesmaid, Raavi, bid up Shelby to take me on a date. Shelby ended up paying over $100 to take me on a date. This would be our first official date at M&H cafe in Ft.Lauderdale FL on 10/4/2014.

After dating for over 8 years, and talking about our plans multiple times, the proposal was not surprising to Shelby whatsoever. The proposal occurred at one of our favorite hikes at Blue Water Lake State Park. Shelby clearly knew what was happening as evident by her giving me the bird just before turning around.

In December 2020, I gave her 1 year to figure out what she wanted in a ring. She started out with wanting a sapphire. Then after going shopping with her Mom, Sister, and Raavi, her mind eventually changed to a lab grown diamond. She would later provide me with a detailed list of specifications for an engagement ring. We got engaged 12/10/2022.
